Cub Scout Adventure 7e

Another year of working with cub scouts has begun. This year I am officially an assistant Den Leader. They are no longer called Den Moms or Den Mothers.

This week we worked on Wolf Requirement 7 – Your Living World. Requirement e was a little difficult to find stories. The requirement is, “With an adult, find three stories that tell how people are protecting our world. Read and discuss them together.”

I recently received some books from my Grandmother featuring biographies written for children. The closest I could find was the biography of St Francis of Assisi. I emailed the leader, who has an older son that has gone through all of this. She said to look for articles.

I started looking for short stories and articles. I tried some home schooling pages and wikipedia, but had no luck. I then typed in “Cub Scout Wolf 7e” and got many ideas.

Here is a list of resources to find articles:

http://boyslife.org/
(I couldn’t figure out how to print articles from Boy’s Life archive)

A Cub Scout mom out on the ‘net also recommended “Heroes of the Environment: True Stories of People Who Help Protect Our Planet” by Harriet Rohmer. I have not seen it but it is at Powell’s.

For those of you who just want three articles, here you go:
Rachel Carson – All life forms are connected to one another. What affects one life form may have unforeseen consequences for another.

Zeb Hogan – He is working to save critically endangered fish and the livelihood of people who share their habitats.
