New plants for the year

We went to the Gardenpalooza garden festival on Saturday. They had moved the location to a different retail farm from the past three years. When I got there I remembered this place, I had stopped there before to buy berries, but found their prices a bit high. They would have had great parking – but the vendor tents were all set up on the parking lot, so we parked on the road a ways away. This limited what I could buy as Rich would be carrying Carl, so I could only buy what I could carry.

I was looking for a few different things.
Herbs
Small native plants for a pot
Pretty plant that will grow tall

We got a later start than I wanted, but hey, I did not marry a morning person. There were a lot of people there, and Rich got the "Deer in the headlights" look he gets in large crowds. So I lead them to look for things for Carl to do. They had a hay ride and Rich and Carl went on that. I went to battle the crowds to look through everything.

I found the following
– Cuban Oregano
– Pineapple Sage
– Cilantro
– Rosemary
– Chilean Jasmine (tall plant)

The Jasime is supposed to get to 12 feet, though not quickly which is fine. It has a large white flower with a gardenia like fragrance.

I bought the Cuban Oregano last year – it isn’t really and oregano, but it can be used in cooking and looks really cool.

This is also my second year for pineapple sage – I love adding it to green salads. I found this link with some recipes that look interesting – I haven’t tried them yet. There are also some lemon basil recipes, another herb I love and plan to buy later on this spring.

So I got a start on my herbs and found a tall plant. I will need to keep looking for my native plants.

The Audubon Society will be having a sale on May 21st.

Or I can drive out to this site:

We also got a lot of compliments on Carls little coat and boots by these folks:

Hi! 🙂 I have been so overwhelmingly busy since my being back. No big vacation or anything but something more like a personal journey….  one that lead me to an angel… 🙂 I hope you are well! Take care and smile!
