Anniversary Ideas

With our anniversary coming up, I was starting to look for some ideas. It is our 3rd, so leather or crystal/glass are the traditional modern ideas.

Though the author used it for Valentines, I think it sounds good for an anniversary:

Fish Bowl
Last Valentine’s Day, I took a small fish bowl and filled it with gummy fish. Oh top, I placed two bigger gummy frogs, mouth-to-mouth as if they were kissing. I covered the top with plastic wrap and wrapped a gold ribbon around it with a note attached. The note had a quote from Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here” about 2 souls swimming in a fishbowl. I left it on the hood of his car right before he got out of class for the day. He found it after his class and loved it.

Looked up the words to the song:
Wish You Were Here  (Waters, Gilmour)

So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell,
Blue skys from pain.
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

And did they get you to trade
Your heros for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange
A walk on part in the war
For a lead role in a cage?

How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We’re just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl,
Year after year
,
Running over the same old ground.
What have we found?
The same old fears.
Wish you were here.

Other ideas
– laser level at Costco (not romantic but he will like it)
– Check out Wilson’s Leather shop next mall walk
– look for wine glasses he likes
– Go through some of Rich’s CD for songs with other metaphors or similes with which something fun can be created
